GETNEWS.ID, West Sumbawa – Management of PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMNT) confirmed that there had been landslide debris in the western wall of the Pit (Mining Area) hole in Batu Hijau on Saturday (12/28).
The incident caused some heavy equipment and a worker to be buried. Landslides occur during horizontal drilling activities or horizontal drilling in the mine wall area.
“Initially there were four workers at the location, three of them managed to evacuate themselves and one was trapped in the heavy equipment cabin,” said Idayani, a spokesman, AMNT’s Public Relations (PR), in his Press statement today.
The drilling activity on the mine wall, Idayani said, was carried out by the company’s business partners. However, one buried victim was successfully evacuated and immediately rushed to the Mataram hospital.
The head of mining engineering, Wudi Raharjo, said that his party had reported the incident to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for a joint investigation, regarding the causes of the debris.
“We have provided medical assistance to workers who are victims and are ready to work with the government and the police. We don’t want this to happen again, because work safety and security are our priority, “he explained.
For the investigation, the mining operations in the west wall are currently stopped and isolated until the investigation is completed by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the company internal. A buried worker was reportedly in good condition and able to communicate.
Practically, as a result of this incident, the national mining company reported no fatalities. Previously, the media received information from several eyewitnesses who saw the mine wall collapse. FM, called his mother in Seteluk, Seteluk District, West Sumbawa that he saw firsthand the collapse of the well wall and hoarded some heavy equipment. He saw many workers saving themselves and other workers buried.
At that time, FM was not far from the mine site. FM claimed to be shocked and very panicked. He was forced to call his family to say he was safe from the incident.
Until this news was revealed, there has been no further information from both the local police and the ESDM NTB staff, regarding the cause of the collapse of the mine well wall.
